Mason Ventures was founded on a decision that was both practical and deeply personal. After starting a career in engineering, Chase Mason made the deliberate choice to return home to Kansas City and partner with his father, Buddy Mason, to pursue a long-standing vision of building and operating businesses together. Combining Chase’s modern perspective and analytical discipline with Buddy’s 30 years of entrepreneurial experience, the father-son team formed Mason Ventures to acquire and grow strong local companies with long-term integrity. What began as a conversation about shared ambition became a commitment to invest not just capital, but time, energy, and reputation into building something meaningful together — for their family, their partners, and the communities they serve.
Buddy Mason
Buddy Mason is an entrepreneur and industry leader with more than 30 years of experience in the electronic security and surveillance industry. In 2002, he founded American Digital Security (ADS) after recognizing the industry’s shift from analog systems to digital IP-based surveillance technology. What began as a $750,000 startup in its first year has grown into a company generating more than $45 million in annual revenue.
Under Buddy’s leadership, ADS has expanded throughout the Midwest and built long-term relationships with more than 2,000 businesses, schools, and organizations across the Kansas City metropolitan area and throughout Kansas and Missouri.
In addition to founding ADS, Buddy launched DVR Distributors in 2005, a security products distribution company now known as SourceIT. In 2007, he introduced ClearPixTechnology, a brand of IP-based security products designed to meet the growing demand for advanced digital surveillance systems.
Buddy has been instrumental in M&A work by acquiring several additional security companies to add to the ADS portfolio.
He continues to give back to local charities with in-kind donations and has served on the board of Inclusion Connections for two years now.
Chase Mason
Chase was born and raised in Liberty, MO. He received a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology then started his career as a design engineer at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation in Savannah, GA. Driven by the opportunity to work with his father and move back home, Chase moved back to Kansas City, and Mason Ventures was born. In his free time Chase enjoys spending time with friends and family, supporting KC sports teams, and playing tennis, pickleball, and golf.
